Jordan Cove Project Could Begin in 2020

A representative of Pembina, the parent company of the Jordan Cove Energy Project, provided an update on the status of the permits and the project to leaders of Businesses and organizations today.  The presentation took place at the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Wednesday Business Connection.  Donna Nichols said construction on the project could begin in 2020 once all of the state and federal permits are in place.  Nicholls also explained what the pipeline will look like and how it is maintained. Questions from the audience included how long vessel traffic would be impacted by ships moving up the channel to where they will be berthed and the impacts that the project will have on housing and traffic.  Nicholls said the travel will impact only the times that the ships will navigate between the two jetties which would require boaters and fishing vessel to wait as they would normally, as well as the buffer that would be required around the ship as it moves up the channel.  The project is also looking at establishing park and ride areas around the community that the workers could utilize to hop busses to get the North Spit Construction site.
