Kitzhaber Orders Flags Lowered Saturday Honoring Keller

Governor Kitzhaber has ordered all flags at public institutions to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, August 25th, in honor of Private First Class Andrew Keller.

“ Keller was a proud Oregonian and a dedicated soldier,” said Kitzhaber. “His death is tragic and he will be missed by many, but his legacy will not be forgotten. I ask all Oregonians to pause this Saturday to recognize his selfless service.”

The 22-year-old soldier from Tigard, Oregon, died August 15th, in Charkh, Afghanistan when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Caserma Ederle, Vicenza, Italy.
