Man Arrested for Knife Threat at Devereux Center

Coos Bay Police Department was dispatched yesterday to the Nancy Devereux Center on a report of a male threatening a female with a knife. The first officer arrived within a minute of being dispatched. The officer located the male in the vehicle as it left the center and initiated a traffic stop. During the investigation it was found that 31-year-old Hector Gonzalez from North Bend and the female were in a relationship and she allowed Gonzalez to sleep in her vehicle. When asked to leave Gonzalez allegedly threatened the female with a knife and accelerated towards a bystander forcing them to jump out of the way. Gonzalez was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail on charges of menacing, unlawful use of weapon and recklessly endangering another person.
