Marshfield Tightens Security For School Day

As the funerals began for those who were killed in last week’s Connecticut school shooting, Marshfield High School in Coos Bay announced that it would tighten security for the school day on Thursday following rumored threats. Parents were notified by a reverse phone call Wednesday afternoon. The message indicated that security would be tightened at the school because of the end of the Mayan calendar and threats and rumors that have not yet been substantiated. The school is working with the Coos Bay Police on this matter. The announcement was made to students as well, by Principal Greg Mulkey.
