Master Gardener Workshops

The Coos County Master Gardeners in cooperation with OSU Extension in Myrtle Point will be holding gardening workshops open to the public this gardening season. The first two workshops in the series begin in March. First up: Plant Disease and Insect Damage Diagnosis by Ross Penhallegon, OSU Associate Professor and Horticulturist on March 9th from 9am to 12pm at the OSU Extension.

The second workshop will be on Tree Identification by Tristan Huff, OSU Extension Forestry Agent, on March 12th at 1pm. The initial workshop begins at the Extension but (weather permitting) will include a field trip to look at local trees in the area. The public workshops are $10.00 per attendee. Because of space restrictions, class size is limited so early registration is recommended.

To register for the workshops, call OSU Extension at 572-5263 extension 240 or email to reserve a seat.

Additionally, South Coast Community Garden Association and Coos County Master Gardeners are also sponsoring three free workshops in their Spring Garden Series held at the Coos Bay Library Myrtlewood Room. On Saturday, February 16th – Pruning with Liza Ehle from Noon to 2pm, Saturday, March 16th – Tomatoes 101 with Renee Blom from Noon to 2pm, and Saturday, April 13 – Herbs with Jennifer Ewing from Noon to 2pm. All are welcome.
