Memorial Garden To Commemorate Jackson And Whitty

The Coos County Board of Commissioners have announced they will be holding a ceremony to dedicate the Memorial Garden in front of the courthouse on Wednesday, June 5th, at 1:30m.

The Memorial Garden will be dedicated to the memory of two County Commissioners who recently died while in office, Andy Jackson and Nikki Whitty.

This project came together through the efforts of Eagle Scout Josiah Cunningham, Edenscapes Landscape Services, Kevin Yeager, former Commissioner Cam Parry, and numerous County staff members. “This project is truly a group effort” said Commissioner Melissa Cribbins “the Maintenance Department and the Roads Department worked with community members to get these rocks placed and the signs mounted to them. Everyone wanted to make sure that we had a tangible memorial to Commissioner Jackson and Commissioner Whitty.”

The Memorial Garden dedication will take place between 1:30 and 2:00 pm. Commissioner Bob Main will open the ceremony, and anyone wishing to share a memory will be given the opportunity to do so after he has completed his remarks. The public is invited to attend and share a fond memory of Commissioner Jackson or Commissioner Whitty.
