New Pump Station Construction In Coos Bay

The City of Coos Bay will be constructing a new pump station that will replace the current pump station located in the Blossom Gulch Elementary School parking lot, south of Blossom Gulch Creek and west of South 10th Street. The existing pump station is over 30 years old, subject to frequent maintenance, and has served its useful life. The new pump station will be relocated to the north side of Blossom Gulch Creek.

The construction will also include the installation of new gravity sewer lines and force mains. The new sewer pipe will be located along South 10th Street between Blossom Gulch Elementary School and Anderson Avenue. Additional sewer pipe installation will also occur along the vacated and unimproved portions of South 11th Street.
The construction is scheduled to commence August 5th, and it is anticipated to take six months. Construction hours will occur from 7:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday. Parking along the edge of road along South 10th Street and Anderson Avenue may be affected, and there will be some lane closures for extended periods from time to time. However, at night and on the weekends the roads will be open to through traffic.

This project is part of many associated with the city’s aggressive Inflow and Infiltration Reduction and Sewer Rehabilitation Program. The project is being funded by a loan and grant obtained from Oregon Infrastructure Finance Authority. Any questions can be directed to the city of Coos Bay Public Works and Development Department at 541-269-8918.
