NWS Special Weather Statement

Special Weather Statement

After a long period of dry weather… a potent wave will push onshore Saturday and Sunday. Wind and rain will be the most prominent features of this system… .although there is the potential for heavy snowfall in the Cascades as well. Gusty winds are likely over much of the area Saturday into Saturday night… while winds along the coast… over the Siskiyous and Cascades… and across portions of the east side could approach 40 mph with higher gusts.
The system will also be very wet… with a connection to moisture out of the subtropical Pacific. The heaviest rain is expected Saturday… although precipitation will continue into Sunday. Snow levels will also drop to below 4000 feet by Sunday morning… and this will have the potential to produce several inches of snow over the higher mountain passes.
