Rate Increases to Utility Services Considered by Bandon City Councilors

Bandon City Councilors will consider rate increases for water, wastewater and electric services. Resolutions for a 28 percent increase for wastewater and a 21 percent increase for water to cover budget shortfalls in the next budget year. The smallest increase comes for electric services in which staff is recommending a two-percent increase to customers. The city charter allows the council to increase rates for electric services. However, City Manager Robert Mawson is recommending the council approve fee increases by resolution for water and sewer even though the city’s charter requires a vote of the people to increase rates for water and wastewater services. Tonight’s meeting starts at 7pm at Bandon City Hall.
