Reedsport Man Dies After Officer-Involved Shooting

The investigation into July 17th’s officer-involved shooting in Reedsport is continuing by the Douglas County Major Crimes Team, led by Oregon State Police Criminal Investigations Division.

The man who was shot by law enforcement is identified as 71-year-old Glenn Ray Glancey from Reedsport. Glancey was a resident in the mobile home park where the shooting occurred. He died from injuries related to the shooting on July 20th at 7:30pm. Previously released information indicated that on July 17th, four law enforcement officers (two from the Reedsport Police Department and two from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office) responded to a reported verbal and physical disturbance at a mobile home park located at 1000 North Eighth Street in Reedsport.

The officers were confronted by an adult male suspect, identified as Glancey, who was reportedly armed with a handgun. Shots were exchanged between the man and law enforcement. The suspect was shot at least once and taken to Lower Umpqua Hospital for initial treatment. The names of the involved officers are still withheld. No officers were injured during the incident.
