Reedsport Police: New Credit Card Scam

The Reedsport Police Department has announced that a new telephone scam has begun. An automated dialer calls and states “Your Mastercard or debit Mastercard has been locked due to security issues. Please press one for customer service”. Then the voice asks the potential victim to punch in their card number. In a press release, Sgt. Tom Beck of the Reedsport police says that credit card companies do not call account holders with an automated dialer asking for this information. Beck says this is a scam and that no one should give any credit card information over the phone. He advises would-be victims to hang up and call the customer service number on the back of their card.
