Reedsport Police: Pipe Bomb Discovered On The 101

Highway 101 was closed briefly on Saturday morning, July 27th, when a possible pipe bomb was located. A person riding their bicycle found what appeared to be the pipe bomb. The Reedsport Police Department responded and confirmed the device was a pipe bomb. Police described the device as 5-6 inches in length and about one inch in diameter. It was wrapped in tape with a fuse coming out of one end. Police reported that the device did not appear to have been planted deliberately and no threats had been made to any persons in the vicinity. Highway 101 was closed from 10th Street to Winchester Avenue to prevent any accidental detonation. No injuries were reported and no arrests were made. Reedsport Police, Winchester Bay Fire Department, CERT and the Oregon State Police Bomb Squad all responded.
