State Park Day Use Areas to Open Thursday

Oregon State Parks officials say several day use areas from Reedsport to Brookings will open Thursday, May 14th. Popular Day Use areas to open include Umpqua Lighthouse at Winchester Bay, William Tugman north of Lakeside and Golden and Silver Falls east of Coos Bay. Sunset Bay, Shore Acres and Cape Arago south of Charleston will also open with some restrictions and limitations. Bullards Beach, Face Rock and Devil’s Kitchen near Bandon will also open. Coquille Myrtle Grove, Albert Powers and Maria C Jackson parks will be open with normal day use restrictions.

District Manager Larry Becker says because of significant reductions in parks staffing, ground and trail maintenance will be limited. Some restrooms will be closed. But,those who wish to use restrooms that are open, will be asked to limit access to a single person in the building at one time. Becker says if there are visitor failures to comply with Oregon Health Authority and CDC Guidelines, a day use could close again.
