Tall Ships ‘Battle’ over weekend

Those loud booms you may have heard yesterday weren’t backfires, but they were the Tall Ships in a mock Battle Sail. The Hawaiin Chieftain and her companion ship, the Lady Washington were sailing on Coos Bay this weekend, engaging each other in a ‘battle’ as guests cheered on the crews. Both ships were firing their cannons with real gunpowder and encouraging guests to verbally taunt their adversaries during the three hour excursion. The Tall Ships will be available all this week for tours, demonstrations and more Battle Sails, before they both sail out of Coos Bay on May 15th. Learn more by visiting >historicalseaport.org<
