Three Small Fires Caused No Injuries Near Bridge

The Coos Forest Protective Association reports that a flat tire resulting in damage to the rim and axel of a boat trailer being towed, caused three small fires along Highway 42 on Wednesday, July 10th, two miles west of Bridge. The fires were discovered by a CFPA engine around 2pm. The CFPA, Myrtle Point and Bridge Rural Fire Departments responded with a total of six engines, two tenders and 28 fire fighters. The three fires burned about three quarters of an acre. The quick response kept the fires from growing and threatening homes in the area. No injuries have been reported and the fires were contained by 5pm. Oregon State Police and personnel from the Oregon Department of Transportation also responded and traffic was controlled with flaggers for about three hours.
