Town Hall Meeting To Review Master Plan

The staff of the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay and members of the Charleston Advisory Committee will host a town hall meeting at 6pm on Monday, May 20th, at the Charleston Marina RV Park recreation room, 63402 Kingfisher Drive. The meeting will feature discussion of the results of a four-month community-driven process to review and update the Charleston Marina Complex Master Plan. The plan guides the port’s board of commissioners and management in infrastructure investments and ongoing development of the marina, RV park and shipyard facilities.

The current document adopted in 2007 was intended as a five-year plan and many recommended improvements have been completed. For the update, three focus groups provided insight and helped prioritize recommendations that vary from development of a low-impact boat wash facility in the marina to expansion of storage areas throughout the Charleston Marina Complex, along with repair and upgrades to the shipyard marine ways.

At the town hall meeting, port staff and the Charleston Advisory Committee will seek additional suggestions to refine the plan and ideas for community involvement moving forward for partnerships in funding and efforts to complete proposed projects.
