Train Leaves Tracks North Of Lakeside

Crews from the Albany and Eastern Railroad Company are assessing the area where a train hauling lumber left the track last night just north of Lakeside.  An Oregon International Port of Coos Bay Spokeswoman said an infrastructure issue caused the train to derail.  Albany and Eastern will make the necessary repairs and remove the railcars and lumber. Service to customers who use rail to and from Coos Bay will be interrupted until the repairs are made.  There were no injuries reported, and no immediate environmental impacts.  The derailment occurred on part of the line near water, but none of the affected rail cars went into the water. The only cargo being carried by the train was lumber which will be removed by the railroad company.
