Truck Driver Cited After Crashing Into Coos Bay Motel


The driver of a log truck that crashed into a Coos Bay Motel has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence of marijuana.  60-year-old Benjamin Long Junior was driving a Koos Trucking log truck south on Highway 101 when he lost control of the truck after slamming on his brakes at the intersection and crashed into the side of Motel 6. There were no injuries as a result of the crash, but substantial property damage. Coos Bay Police also believe speed and road conditions were a factor in the crash. Long Junior was cited for careless driving and commercial motor vehicle specific offenses of possession of a controlled substance.
