The Coos Bay Police Department received a 911 call that a murder had taken place near Hemlock Avenue in Coos Bay. Upon investigation, police found the body of an adult white male behind a warehouse at the corner of North 7th Street and Hemlock Avenue. The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Jesse Nathan Hayes, reportedly a transient with no permanent address. The initial investigation indicated that Hayes died of homicidal violence. An autopsy revealed that Hayes had been subjected to multiple blunt force injuries, including broken ribs. Sunday afternoon, police arrested 31-year-old Michael Lee Gertson and lodged him in the Coos County jail, on a charge of Murder. In addition, 46-year-old Jesse Jack Longhenry was also arrested and lodged on the same charge.
