Two Arrested, Heroin Seized During Traffic Stop

Two men were arrested last Friday morning during a traffic stop by Oregon State Police when a trooper found approximately 30 pounds of heroin concealed in their vehicle.

On July 5th, OSP stopped a Ford van displaying California license plates northbound on Interstate 5 near Ashland for a speeding violation. The van was occupied by two men identified as driver 26-year-old Jose Raul Esparza, from Calexico, California, and passenger 21-year-old Armando Agustin Villasenor Jr, from El Centro, California. The OSP investigation during the traffic stop resulted in the trooper’s discovery of approximately 30 pounds of heroin concealed inside the car’s trunk area. Estimated value of the seized heroin is in excess of $600,000.

Both men were arrested and lodged in the Jackson County jail for Unlawful Manufacture, Possession, and Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Heroin.
