United Way Campaign Ends November 30th

The local United Way is raising money in Coos and Curry Counties to support services provided by local non-profit programs. The goal this year’s campaign is $150,000, which has a deadline of November 30th. This year’s theme is “LIVE UNITED: Give where you live”.
Since 1961, money raised in Coos and Curry Counties helps local people through more than 50 services such as the Women’s Safe Project; Salvation Army services; the T.H.E. House (providing food and shelter programs for the homeless and hungry, senior nutrition and health programs); Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts; The Kid’s HOPE Center and others.
The United Way of Southwestern Oregon is also the lead agency for the Coos Curry Housing Coalition, a local group of community businesses, organizations and agencies focused on solving a social crisis-the shortage of housing. The United Way is championing the effort for a Comprehensive Housing Study for Coos County.
The United Way is asking local businesses, employee groups, professionals and individuals to contribute. Officials note that money not only stays here helping local people, it gives donors the opportunity to support many worthwhile local causes through one donation. Learn how to donate or volunteer by contacting the United Way at: 320 Central Avenue, #226, Box 1288, Coos Bay, OR 97420; Call 541-267-5202 or visit http://www.unitedwayswo.org.
