UPDATE: School Threat and Confession

UPDATE: School Threat and Confession of 12 year-old female and Coquille incident.

North Bend Police have Identified a 12-year old girl from the middle school who, in the presence of her parent, confessed to leaving a written threat on a bathroom wall.

The graffiti left on a 6th grade bathroom wall at North Bend Middle School said, “school shooting tomorrow…BE READY!!!”

NBPD is working with the Coos County District Attorney as well as mental health counselors to determine the most appropriate course of action in addressing this act and its root causes.

According to Police Chief Robert Kappelman the student has no access to weapons and her parents are cooperative in this process.

The student has reported that the threat was not credible, however, we are examining thoroughly to assure that is factual.

School will resume as usual for all North Bend schools Thursday morning.

In a related story, a Coquille Junior High Student is in trouble after writing a similar threat on the walls of the school. That case will also be turned over to the District Attorneys office. More as this develops.
