Vacant Property Registration Now In Effect

The City of Coos Bay Vacant Property Registration is now in effect. Owners of vacant property are now required to register the property with the City and update the registration annually or when information changes. City of Coos Bay Codes Enforcement currently has active cases for over 100 vacant or foreclosed properties. Codes officials say the properties many times attract squatters, criminal activity, and impact the health and safety of Coos Bay. For out of area owners, the ordinance requires a local contact, such as a property management company or realtor. Contact information must be clearly posted on the property, which is useful for emergency services and also for neighbors. The registration form and additional information are on the City website at www.coosbay.org/doing-business.
