Voluntary Tsunami Evacuation Drill

Communities on the Southern Oregon coast will hold voluntary tsunami evacuation drills on Friday, May 31st. Residents and visitors can plan their route to higher ground using the new evacuation maps published by the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries. Participants can join their neighbors and businesses in taking their ‘grab and go’ bag of emergency supplies, and time how long it takes to walk to the nearest assembly area, since many roads and bridges could be impassable after an earthquake.

At 10am on may 31st, the drill will take place in Reedsport, Gardiner and Winchester Bay in Douglas county, and in Lakeside, Hauser and North Bay in Coos county. For more information, call Coos County Emergency Management, 541-404-5385
