Walk A Mile In Her Shoes To Benefit Womens Safety And Resource Center

On Wednesday, May 24th, Southwestern Oregon Community College will host “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes”. The International Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence is co-sponsored by The Zonta Club of the Coos Bay area and benefits the Women’s Safety and Resource Center, raising awareness of rape, sexual assault and gender violence.

Men of all ages are invited to bring a pair of ladies heels (preferably red) and come to the Southwestern campus in Henry Hanson Union Square. Costumes and teams are encouraged. Registration begins at 11:30am. Speakers will be presented at Noon and the walk will begin at 12:15pm. Southwestern’s Associated Student Government will be providing a free lunch to the first 50 (non-Southwestern students) registered to walk. Bottled water will be provided and lunch will be available for purchase from Southwestern’s dining services. For anyone who is unable to walk, please come support and cheer on the walkers.

Cash donations for this event are greatly appreciated and will go to help survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault at the Women’s Safety and Resource Center. Mail donations to 1681 Newmark Avenue, Coos Bay, OR 97420 or bring donations to the event. For more information about the walk call 541-888-1048.
