Woman From Fairview Airlifted To BAH

The Coos Bay 911 center received a call from a male who was on a boat at sea. The caller advised police that he had received a call from his wife reporting to him that she had been involved in an ATV accident east of Fairview on November 11th, was injured and was trapped under her 4 wheeler. The information was passed on to Coquille Ambulance, Fairview Fire and Coos County Sheriff’s Office.

First Responders got to the victim’s location, approximately 4 miles past the end of Fairview Road, and past a locked Menasha gate, east of Laverne Park, Coquille. They found 46-year-old Carol Hansen of Coquille, pinned under her 4 wheeler, down an embankment off the logging road. It appeared that Hansen had suffered injuries to her pelvic area when the 4 wheeler she was operating slid off the road, flipped over and pinned her against a tree. First Responders extricated her from under the ATV, moved her up to the road and then transport her by a second ATV, to a landing zone area where she was flown to Bay Area Hospital.

Authorities say that Hansen was lucky that she was located in the only area to have any cell service for miles around. Deputies learned from Menasha personnel that Hansen had been warned earlier about trespassing on Menasha property. The investigation will be turned over to the Coos County DA’s Office for consideration of possible Criminal Trespass charges.
