Work On Sinkhole At Curtis And 4th

The city of Coos Bay reports that a major sinkhole has been identified at the intersection of 4th and Curtis, which has left a large hole approximately 20 feet long by 15 feet wide and eight feet deep. City crews are investigating the cause of the sinkhole.

The cause is most likely a collapsed storm drain pipe. Therefore drivers can expect the intersection to be closed. The intersection will be open temporarily for the rest of this week while the city obtains a contractor to perform the work. Once work starts, drivers can expect the intersection to be closed to through traffic for three days. The city appreciates cooperation from the community during this maintenance event.
